It feels like National Conference coming to the 'burg!!! We get to go to a MOVIE THEATER to see the Thirty-One Spring (Notice it doesn't say "Spring/Summer") Product Premier -- how cool is that!? I know we get to come home with ONE new catalog.... so if ya want to look at it expect to see my drool marks on it! I can't wait to see what surprise Home Office as for it's customers and consultants b/c every time I get a new catalog I think "Wow, this is the best catalog ever!"

So I'm hosting a Vault Denim Party tomorrow eve 6-8 at my studio -- and in true Julia Fashion (no pun intended) I decided why not also be the consultant and make some extra cash while I'm at it.... hmmmm, this is sounding familiar. Time for a New Do!

I'm a creature of habit, my hair is pretty much always the same unless I try a new stylist -- ya know someone once told me that and it's true if you want a "new do" you have to GO TO SOMEONE NEW! Man, would I love a cute little wedged-bob and if you have one you might find me staring wistfully at your head.

But my husband HATES short hair (even shoulder length has gotten questioned before.... "what happened to your hair" when I got a trim once) and I figure he looks at my hair and a lot more than I do so I should respect his opinion. As 2012, the year that is going to be a GREAT YEAR for me, approaches I am ready for a new do. So here is what I am thinking....

So I pick up my mail today and what catches my eye at the post office –– could it BE??????? a long, flat rate priority mail box that looks as if Cindy Monroe designed it herself. You see I can stuff a LOT of thirty-one samples in a flat rate box but NEVER can I easily ship a Large Utility Tote... and this box is looking like the perfect size –– yup it is!!!!!!!!!

P.S. Post office, you may have slightly redeemed yourself for not getting Kendra Nagle's SD Promotion gift to her on time, I was pretty mad at you until today!

My Cute Camera Strap!

When I got my beloved Nikon D5100 I seached all over etsy.com for the perfect camera strap. There are a LOT of people who make them and well worth the $25 if you ask me! I am a firm believer in supporting other business women and their talents. I only found 2 sellers that had lens cap pockets on their straps and I liked the simplicity of this black & white fabric. The sample showed red with black stitching and I asked the seller if she could do hot pink "soft" side with hot pink stitching... ya know cause I'm addicted to 31 (colors)! Plus I needed it fast, in time for my National Conf. and guess what it came super fast just the way I asked! Check out Misty Days Boutique her stuff is REALLY cute!!! One thing to note. The lens cap falls out of the strap when you lift it to shoot, so I need to put some velco on it a much easier fix than my friend Stephanie Joseph who's cute "Sassy Sista" strap pocket is too small for her cap and it doesn't even fit in.

To UGG or not to UGG?

So this winter I was trying to decide to "UGG" or not... They were going to be a necessity when we thought we were buying a house that had 22+ feet of snow last year, but the move fell through and thus I couldn't justify spending $225 for the pair I really wanted! I settled for a pair of sketchers that were about $15 on sale and I really do like them! But I had a bunch of Gap Rewards cards I had to redeem --- I put the charges for my Thirty-One Parties on it for the people who pay me with cash/checks --- that were expiring today and I just so happened to have enough to get this pair of Uggs for FREE!!!!!!!! I got them at Athleta. I usually use my rewards at Piperlime but they don't sell them there. I am also hoping that by the time I get to wear them I feel as relaxed as this gal looks. Will my Uggs lead me to my place of Zen?

I wanted a pink cover (note it is more magenta than shown in photo) for my iPad2. I wanted something to wrap over the edges and cover the front/back and be able to stand up when I am using it for recipes in the kitchen or slide shows at my Thirty-one parties. Coming with a car charger and screen protector for the price of $19.99 is a steal considering I had originally bought a shell that just covered the back for twice that. My only gripe is that I got dust on the adhesive when I put the screen protector on so now there are dust bubbles. I will have to get a new one in the future. Make sure you have a VERY clean surface before you begin. It fits perfectly, sometime I have to wiggle it slightly when I am taking a photo so it doesn't cover the viewfinder. Overall I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A FREE 2nd Honeymoon!

I was on pins and needles last thursday until I finally found out where we were going for my ALL EXPENSE PAID leadership retreat.... and then my bubble burst! It's the Moon Palace, the EXACT same resort we spent our honeymoon at 10.5 years ago!!!! I had finally gotten Tim to agree to go with me (he's not a tropical vacation kind of guy... my nick name for him is "arctic boy") and then we find out it's were we went for HM and really weren't planning on going back to for various reasons. I won't go into them b/c I appreciate the generosity Thirty-one has extended to us. So I shall look at it as a blessing.... I get to TAKE MY HUSBAND ON A 2ND HONEYMOON 2 weeks before our 11th anniversary and let him find out THERE ARE ABOUT 1,000 OTHER LADIES OUT THERE AS THIRTY-ONE OBSESSED as myself!!!!!!

Not only did I meet the goal for taking a guest with me I will have EXCEEDED it!!! So much better than a "desk job" when you work your tail off YOU GET REWARDED!!!!

I am so excited for conference this year. Honestly, it is just so fun and exciting and inspiring I have been thinking about it ever since I left this July. What can I say I'm, "addicted to Thirty-One". As a newbie last year I didn't know what to expect. As a director this year I am really looking forward to all the training, awards banquet and getting tips & ideas from other consultants. And getting to know my roomie Alia, my DIQ in Minnesota who is growing a fabulous team there! If you haven't registered yet YOU SHOULD just click here. First, let me start this story by saying HOW MUCH I LOVE MY JOB and now I'll tell you why!!!! See, I have this awesome job where I set my own hours and find and do business everywhere I go and inspire others to do the same! Here is what happened on friday that gets me all giddy with excitement....

On friday, a friend was in town from NC that I didn't know about. I had some stuff I should do in the office but there was always monday. So I got to spend the afternoon with a good friend instead of my computer! I took her for a late lunch at Issac's in Hershey. Some how (like I do in most conversations) I mentioned to the waitress "You should become a 31 consultant!" and she said "What's 31? I want to have a party!" She wasn't even supposed to be working but they asked her to stay late. I just talked to her today and she did book her party and has already begun her wish list!

So after lunch we go over to the outlets for some shopping and my phone rings.... It's Jennifer Vokoun, one of my newest team mates. She tells me "Julia, I'm driving 4 hours to WV to do a show and only 4 people are coming!" I knew she was skeptical, but I've know from my experience that bigger isn't always better. After all, one of my best parties only had 4 guests who spent about $750! I told her "I want you to go with an open heart and see where the evening leads you. I promise you it won't be a waste of your time!" I told her you never know who your next "super star" is going to be and she could be at that party!!! So today Jennifer calls me super excited and tells me that the party was a huge success! Not only were her sales well above the company party average but she got 3 bookings and 2 who might want to sign up! She's going back for a 31 Party Weekend in November!

I always say "You Just Never Know" where your next booking, hostess or recruit will be and where that will lead you and your team! Everyday is an opportunity to share the blessing Thirty-One has brought to your life so you can bless someone else's life!

I must apologize to my team b/c yesterday I sent a reminder email about the Consultant Hostess Exclusive Product Sale that ends today before I checked TOT to see that it was SOLD OUT WEDNESDAY! Skirt Purses... What's the Difference?

A lot! I personally just couldn't fit what I need to in the "old" skirt purse so I was elated to see the City Skirt Purse launched! They both have interchanging "skirts" which means you purchase the "base" in brown or black along with your choice of 1 skirt. Additional skirts can be purchased to change the look of your purse w/o having to actually switch the contents inside! Our catalogs come out every 6 months with new skirt patterns so you can always update your look for the season.
The City Skirt Purse is much larger as you can see in the photos I took. It also has a FLAT bottom that measures 5"x13". The Skirt Purse is about 3.5"x14" across the bottom but is soft and does not have a plastic insert that defines the bottom. They both have a zippered interior pocket and cell phone pocket (no zipper), both have a magnetic enclosure. The Skirt Purse closes against itself at the top like a book, the City Skirt Purse has a 3" extender so the top of the purse is slightly open when "closed".

Both purses have 4 hooks on each side that the skirts slip onto. The Skirt Purse has snaps that open so you can easily get to the hooks. The snaps on the City Skirt Purse don't open but you can roll the top up to get underneath to the hooks.

I just took a tour of the Thirty-One office today and it was so cool! The building is AMAZING I took pictures and will upload them when I get back. We saw all the embroidery machines and the warehouse and the offices. I haven't had any training sessions yet that starts at 6pm tonite with our team meeting. I'm so excited! The next 3 days will be a blast and I can't wait to tell you all about it. I will get to see the FALL PRODUCT REVEAL on Saturday before we leave AND bring home a set of catalogs and the fall "Party to Go" kit!!!! Some of you have been wondering about the catalog transition I will send more info to you when I get back. A list will be coming out soon so check TOT for updates. I have to admit for $39.50 I was skeptical about this blanket.... but I LOVE it!!!!! I was first pleasantly surprised that when I unrolled the nylon exterior I found a super soft bright green fleece inside. It's a bit larger than a big beach towel. Perfect for a picnic in the park or day at the beach for 2 adult and 2 toddlers to share. Even better it easily folded up with no squeezing and tugging to secure on the velcro tabs so I wasn't frustrated "putting it back". Our shoulder bags are GREAT for ladies on the go! I've used mine a lot this winter b/c I could wear it under my coat when I'm shopping and keep my wallet, phone, etc. close to me
since I have a habit of losing them! Nothing like checking out and realizing you left your wallet or keys somewhere in the store. I have done both! There is a zipper pocket on the front another pocket on the back and a zipper pocket and 2 other pockets on the inside!

Although we have to buy our catalogs I want to stress the importance of handing them out as if they were free (for us). I have been to several open houses where customers hand them back to me and I tell them "keep it! you earned it!" and the happily take it with them. You just never know where that catalog is going to end up. They really are our BEST marketing tool. I also attend bridal shows and pass them out to EVERYONE who visits my booth. Again, you just never know who is going to LOVE thirty-one as much as I do and be your next customer, hostess or even consultant! I'm so excited to have my cousin Alicia join my 31 team! Want to know what made her join? Well, for Christmas I suggested my grammie get all the children & grandchildren the picnic thermal totes (which I sold her at cost.... didn't feel right to "make" money off of my own grandmothers spirit of giving) with their last name embroidered on them. To be honest, I just wanted one for myself and thought everyone else would think they were cool too! Well, my cousin started using it as a diaper bag (see you can really use any bag for any purpose, despite it's name!) and getting lots of compliments and told them "thirty-one" check it out online! I guess after SEVERAL compliments she thought "wait, maybe I should be selling these bags (which practically sell themselves)" and after receiving her husbands blessing (we all know we want that on our side) she ordered her kit and has some parties lined up and is anxious to see the path 31 leads her. I'm excited to be part of her journey and share mine with her!
